Over at the pool, Gabriella was busy scrubbing tiles. She didn’t mind working hard, but she couldn’t help but feel a little resentful when Sharpay walked by looking amazing.

The other club girls and Ryan were lounging by the pool, working on their tans.

Sharpay struck a pose to show off her outfit. “Is the green piping too much?”

Just as she expected, Emma immediately said, “Green is so this year,” and the other club girls nodded in agreement. Each of them wore a swimsuit in a different shade of green.

Sharpay spoke a little louder so that Gabriella would hear. “I’m taking a golf lesson from Troy Bolton, so I want to look just right.”

Sharpay’s friends sighed in unison. Troy Bolton! He was such a cutie!

As Sharpay left, she said to Gabriella, “The pool has never looked better! Brava!”

Gabriella just gritted her teeth and scrubbed harder. Ryan watched them from the other side of the pool. His sister had always acted this way, but, for some reason, today it was making him rather uncomfortable.

Over at the junior golf clinic, Troy ducked as a club whistled past his head. He tried to figure out how to get the kids to focus on the finer points of the game.

“Bolton, your eleven-thirty is here,” one of the other golf pros called.

Troy looked up to see Sharpay waving at him. He looked back to the members of his junior golf clinic. All of a sudden, spending the morning with them didn’t seem so bad.
